IPSTONES 60th AGRICULTURAL SHOW
SATURDAY AUGUST 28th 2010
Ipstones Agricultural Show this year celebrates its 60th annual show and it is traditionally held on the last Saturday in August, with over 2,000 expected to attend. There are a wide variety of attractions at the show, including the agricultural events on which the show was founded over half a century ago. These include showing and judging of heavy horses, cattle, sheep and goats and light horse ridden and in hand classes along with show jumping and the traditional children’s gymkhana games. There is also a dog show and horticultural classes. The show ground is host to a wide range of trade stands, craft tent, a display of classic cars, tractors, stationery engines and other bygone memorabilia. The result being that there is something to interest both young and old.
One of the highlights of the annual show is the crowning of Ipstones Agricultural Queen, who for 2010-2011 is Abigail Hughes, together with competition from visiting Queens, which attracts a great deal of interest. The parade of the Queens commences at 12.30pm with the official opening ceremony at 1pm.
